KEEPING A HEALTHY SYSTEM

  1. Do not place kitchen grease, feminine products, coffee grinds, kitty litter and cigarette butts into septic systems.
  2. Check for leaking faucets and running toilets.
  3. Do not have or use garbage disposals.
  4. Do not use powdered detergents.
  5. Have your septic tank pumped every two to three years to remove the solids.

RECOGNIZING SEPTIC PROBLEMS

  1. Do you have wet areas in the yard?
  2. Bad odors in or around the home?
  3. Do the toilets and bath tubs on lower levels of the home drain slow?
  4. Do you have sewage coming from the septic tank lid area?
