As a condition of the sale of our home, we were required to obtain a septic system inspection. Using only a probe and without digging in the area, an inspector failed our drain field and told us we would probably have to spend as much as $6,000 to replace it. We contacted A1 Excavating and Septic Systems, LLC of Owings, MD and requested their services to confirm these findings and, if necessary, do the work. A1′s team of professionals, led by George and Paul, brought out a front-end loader and dug two holes to expose the septic tank lid and ascertain the location of the drain field “elbow”. They used state-of-the-art computerized equipment to send a camera down the drain pipe from the tank to the the drain field, a distance of more than 70 feet, cut out the elbow, and used high pressure water to blow any obstructions out of the system. Upon completion, they reconnected everything, conducted a lengthy test of the entire system, and then, being properly licensed to do so, certified the system as operable. I recently had A-1 Excavating and Septic put in a new drain field for my septic system. George and his crew completed the job on time with minimal disruption of my landscaping. The finished job included using the extra dirt from the excavation of the drain fields to level an area of my yard that was low. I appreciate that George showed up first thing with his crew to ensure that the job started off correctly and that the job would be completed exactly as specified in the proposal. George even directed the use of smaller gravel trucks to help minimize any potential damage even though this cost him additional time and money out of his own pocket.
